numéro en cours vol.8, n°1 winter-spring/ hiver-printemps 2018 contents/sommaire contents of this issue the present issue (vol.8, n°1) carries five articles, four in english, one in french. such linguistic unbalance is partly remedied in the book review section by a majority of french reviews. this number does not contain the usual presentation of a classic work in the military field. the first two articles come from sweden. one, penned by frida linehagen , presents the findings of a study of the experiences of female personnel in today's swedish armed forces. the other, signed by arita holmberg and sofia nilsson , deals with recent developments in swedish civil-military relations and the legitimacy issues raised by sweden's post-materialist society. the third, authored by arsel moro ngui , comes from gabon, and offers (in french) a typology of the crises generated by ethnic and territorial identity affiliations in african countries. it bears testimony to the growing academic interest raised (at long last) among scholars on the continent by the place and role of violence. the fourth article is by commander michael norton (us navy), who addresses the issue of trust in leaders as a factor in whistle-blowing decisions by means of a remarkable factorial vignette study. the last piece, bearing the signatures of grazia scoppio, nancy otis and yan yan , examines recruitment and selection for the canadian armed forces (caf) to ascertain (by means of the gender-based assessment plus framework) whether or not a bias exists that may explain why female officer recruitment regularly falls short of its goals. the opening book review, by martine cuttier and bernard boën e, analyzes a rare collective volume on the soldier in the 20th and 21st centuries edited by the french defence chief of staff, gen. françois lecointre , in person. the second, signed by olivier forcade , assesses the memoir of another french army general, jean-rené bachelet , then commander of un protection forces in the sarajevo area, on fateful 1995 events and his “impossible mission”. the third, also in french and presented (again) by martine cuttier , deals with michel goya 's book on the place of death in military career and battlefield motivation and behaviour. the last two are in english. one, by thomas kolditz , evaluates a book edited by michael holenwege r , michael karl jager and franz kernic on leadership in extreme situations. the second, signed by eyal ben-ari , reviews another collective volume, edited by irina goldenberg , joseph soeters and waylon dean on information sharing in coalitions during military operations. happy reading ! bernard boëne présentation du numéro la présente livraison (vol.8, n°1) de res militaris comporte cinq articles, dont quatre en anglais, l'autre en français. ce déséquilibre linguistique est en partie corrigé dans la rubrique des critiques d'ouvrages par une majorité de recensions francophones d'ouvrages français. ce numéro n'offre pas, contrairement à l'usage jusqu'ici, de rubrique “classiques du champ militaire”. les deux premiers articles nous viennent de suède. l'un, signé de frida linehagen , présente les résultats d'une étude portant sur l'expérience des personnels féminins dans les armées suédoises. l'autre, écrit conjointement par arita holmberg et sofia nilsson , traite de l'évolution récente des rapports armée-état-société sous l'angle des problèmes de légitimité que pose la société post-matérialiste suédoise. le troisième vient du gabon et présente, sous la plume d' arsel moro ngui , une typologie des crises d'appartenance identitaire (ethnicité, autochtonie) dans les pays africains. il porte témoignage de l'intérêt croissant (longtemps attendu) des universitaires africains pour la place et le rôle de la violence sur le continent. l'article suivant est d'un officier de marine américain, michael norton , qui au moyen d'une remarquable étude factorielle de mises en situation fictives, cherche à situer l'influence de la confiance dans les chefs sur les décisions de signalement des comportements contraires à l'éthique. le dernier article, sous la plume conjointe de grazia scoppio , nancy otis et yan yan , examine les procédures de sélection et de recrutement dans les armées canadiennes pour déterminer (au moyen de l'outil d'analyse gba+) s'il existe un biais susceptible d'expliquer les déficits réguliers dans le recrutement d'officiers féminins par rapport aux objectifs fixés. la première recension, par martine cuttier et bernard boëne , porte sur l'événement rare que constitue la parution d'un volume collectif dirigé par le chef d'état-majo
